Freediving in Eilat: The Complete Guide to Courses, Prices and Dive Sites

Eilat is Israel's diving capital, and one of the most accessible places in the world to learn freediving. Warm water all year, excellent visibility and a coral reef that starts just meters from the beach make the northern tip of the Red Sea a perfect classroom. Whether you are planning a holiday, already dive with scuba, or simply want to try something new, this guide covers everything you need to know about freediving in Eilat: courses, prices, dive sites and the best time to come.

Why freedive in Eilat?

  • Warm water year-round – roughly 21°C in winter and up to about 27°C in summer.

  • Great visibility – on good days 20–30 meters or more.

  • Depth from the shore – the reef wall drops quickly, so training depths are reachable without a boat.

  • Calm, protected water – the Gulf of Eilat is sheltered most of the year, ideal for learning.

  • A world-class coral reef – tropical fish, hard and soft corals, and the occasional turtle or dolphin.

Freediving vs. scuba diving in Eilat

Scuba divers breathe from a tank and can stay underwater for a long time, with plenty of equipment. Freedivers dive on a single breath, with just a mask, long fins and a wetsuit. The experience is quieter, lighter and more personal – no bubbles, no heavy gear, and fish come closer. Many of our students are scuba divers who want to add a new skill, and the breathing and relaxation techniques they learn also improve their air consumption on scuba.
